Homemade Burger Buns

Ingredients
  

  • For the dough
  • 300 g flour
  • 45 g butter
  • 120 ml hot water
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 3.5 g dry yeast
  • 15 g sugar
  • 6 g salt
  • 1 egg
  • For decoration
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • sesame seeds

Instructions
 

  • Start by mixing yeast, sugar, milk and hot water. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
  • Pour the flour and salt into a bowl. Make a hole in the centre of the flour and add the water and yeast mixture, egg and butter.
  • Mix well. Then knead the dough for 5 minutes until it is smooth. Let the dough rise for at least 1 hour in a warm place.
  • Once the dough is rested, cut the dough into 4 or 6 equal-sized pieces (90 g for small buns or 110 g for large buns).
  • Form a ball with each piece. Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Let the buns rise for another 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  • Before baking the buns, beat the egg yolk and milk with a fork. Apply the mixture over the buns. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  • Bake the buns in the oven at 175°C for 17 to 20 minutes. Let them cool before cutting in half.
