Traditional French Madeleines

Today, I am sharing with you another great classic of the French cuisine : the madeleines. With their soft texture, their delicious taste of butter and lemon, madeleines are one of my favorite treats! Here is my recipe for Traditional French Madeleines.

  • Madeleines molds


  • 2 eggs
  • 60 sugar
  • 20 g of honey
  • 40 ml of milk
  • 120 g butter
  • 120 g flour
  • 5 g of baking powder
  • 1 lemon organic


  • Preheat your oven to 200 ° C (fan oven). In a bowl, add the eggs, sugar and honey. Beat with a whisk until the mixture gets white and fluffy.
  • Then add the flour, baking powder, milk and butter. Grate the zest of the lemon.
  • If you have time, let the dough rest for 2 hours in the fridge, if you do not have time it is not mandatory (see above). Then pour the dough into madeleine molds.
  • Put the madeleines in the oven and turn off the oven. Leave in the oven for about 3-5 minutes until a ball forms. Then turn on to cook for another 3-5 minutes or so (depending on the size of your molds) until they are golden.
