The art of this chocolate cake also called Moelleux au Chocolat in French lies in its metling heart! After many trials, I found the perfect recipe for Chocolate Cake with Melting Heart!

How to get a melting chocolate heart?

In order to never miss a melting heart, I have two tips for you:

1. Be precise with your baking time!

First of all, you have to learn and try what is the perfect baking time with your oven and your molds in which you will prepare your chocolate cake. For the following recipe, I did my own analysis and came to the following conclusion:

  • 8 mini chocolate moelleux: 7 min at 175 ° C (hot air)
  • 6 chocolate cake: 8 min at 175 ° C (hot air)
  • 4 chocolate cake: 9 min at 175 ° C (hot air)

Also be careful, if you place your cake batter in the refrigerator before baking the cakes, your batter will be colder and you may need to add 0.5 minutes of baking. Baking requires a lot of precision, but I assure you it’s worth it!

2. Add a square of chocolate

Finally, if ever you don’t feel very comfortable with your oven, I give you another tip that always works!

Once your batter has been poured into your molds, add a square of dark or milk chocolate in the center of your cake. Be careful that it does not stick out. The chocolate will melt during baking and you will get a melting heart.

    1. Hi Manu, personally I prefer when they are still a bit warm from the oven but there is no problem in eating them the next day, they just might be less “melty” 🤗
