I love watermelon! Not only is watermelon delicious and easy to eat, it is also very healthy.
First of all, it’s a fruit extremelyrich in wateras it is composed of more than 90% of it! So ideal in summer when it’s very hot. Eating watermelon thus helps to keep hydrated. Therefore, watermelon is also a fruit low in calories : about 38 calories per 100 g.
Watermelon does not only contain water, it also contains vitamins especially vitamin C and antioxidants like lycopene which gives watermelon its beautiful red color.
Recipe for Watermelon, Basil, Lime Drink
For 2 servings you need the following ingredients.
Ingredients
- 600 g watermelon
- 1 lime
- 1 handful of basil leaves
- 1 teaspoon of agave syrup (optional)
- 6 ice cubes
Preparation
Cut the watermelon into cubes and remove any seeds. Place the watermelon cubes in a blender.
Add the basil leaves, the lime juice and possibly the agave syrup. Mix everything until you get a drink.
Place a few ice cubes in a glass, pour in the watermelon, basil and lime drink. Decorate with a few basil leaves and a lime wedge.
Note
If your blender is strong enough, you can blend the watermelon with the ice cubes directly. You will get a granita-style drink, even more refreshing!
