The fig season is unfortunately almost over. If you still have a few figs that are starting to get old, here’s a great recipe to use them: an delicious autumn Oatmeal with Figs, Apples and Cinnamon!

Oatmeal, more than oats!

I probably said it several times in this blog: as a child, I did not like porridge or oatmeal. For me it was a mass without taste, not particularly appetizing.

Over time, I realized that porridge was not limited to a few oatmeal and water. There are many porridge recipes and you can do wonderful and delicious recipes with it!

My autumn recipe for porridge

In my Quick Porridge with Strawberries and Cherries, I explained how to prepare my porridge in just a few minutes. There I had used a banana as a sweetener.

The following recipe is slightly different because I replaced the banana with apple: that’s why I call it my autumn recipe. You could use this base for other oatmeal recipe with other automnal fruits like pear, grapes or plums!

Reserve the other half of apple for the rest.

Step 2: Figs

Cut the figs in four and place them in a glass dish. Pour a tablespoon of honey.

Bake the figs for 15 minutes in the oven at 175°C.

You can add some branches of rosemary. The taste will go very well with that of apple and cinnamon. Use the rest of the figs to make another recipe such as this Roasted Fig and Burrata Salad.

Step 3: The apple

Cut the rest of the apple finely. Place the apple in a microwave-safe bowl. Add a teaspoon of cinnamon and brown sugar (if necessary).

Cook on medium power for 2 to 3 minutes until apple compote is obtained.

Step 4: Decoration

First place the apple compote on the cooked oatmeal. Then, add the fig wedges and the blueberries. Finally, sprinkle with homemade granola.
